When booking an appointment the doctors ask that the receptionist queries the reason for your appointment. This is so that they can then book the right type of appointment for you.

Appointment availability is also adversely affected by a high number of appointments not attended by patients. We often have over 100 missed appointments a month! In order to reduce this please contact the surgery to cancel any appointments that are not needed. 

The usual working week for each doctor is available to view here.  Please note this may be subject to change without notice depending on holidays and staffing levels.

Practice closure for training

Please note that the practice will be closed on Wednesday 26 February after 12 noon for staff training. Our reception team will not be available and there will be no GP or nurse appointments.

During this time:

  • please call '111' if you need urgent medical assistance or GP advice
  • please call '999' for medical emergencies

Our reception team and clinicians will be available again from 8am Thursday 27th February.

Booking in Advance & Booking Online

Appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance with the doctor of your choice (where availability allows).  These appointments can be booked via reception or online via the link at the top of this page.

To register for online booking please complete a form available from reception or visit our “New Patients” page.

Registration can now be completed online allowing you to book an appointment, you will still need to register fully as described above in order to continue using the service. 

Book on Day Appointments

We reserve many appointments that can be booked on the same day.  These are available to be booked via reception or online.   Please note that these appointments may not be with the doctor of your choice and you will not be given a specific time to be seen (hence 'sit and wait'. You will need to be booked into these appointments by the receptionists.

Urgent Appointments

We also operate a 'duty doctor' system to see urgent cases on the day. These slots are limited and are for urgent, single problems only. These are in 'sit and wait clinics' which can be booked via receptionists.

Video GP appointments

LIVI is a video GP service that allows patients to have same-day video appointments including out-of-hours on weekdays and throughout the weekend. This is an app based service which allows you to book a GP appointment up to 7 days in advance or join a drop-in queue to see a GP - usually with waiting times of less than 30 minutes. Get medical advice, prescriptions and referrals on the same day – even at weekends. The service is provided free on the NHS.

LIVI GPs are all GMC-registered NHS GPS, who (with your consent) will be able to access your medical records and give you a considered, in-depth diagnosis based on your medical history.

Gynaecological Appointments

Ladies booking appointments to discuss gynaecological (female) problems - if you think an examination may be needed please book a double appointment. If you cannot find two consecutive appointments on line then please contact reception to book a double appointment.

Extended Opening

We offer early morning appointments with GPs from 07:00 on Tuesday and Friday and late evening appointments from 18:30 to 20:00 on Monday evenings. We also offer nurse appointments on Monday evenings from 18:.30 to 19:30 and phlebotomist appointments on Friday morning from 07:00.  These appointments are booked in advance and the remainder of the surgery; i.e. reception & our telephone lines are closed. Please note that these appointments are aimed at patients who are unable to attend the surgery during normal working hours.

We offer a variety of telephone appointments which are useful for discussing results or answering any queries which you feel can be dealt with over the phone.

General Points

  • Patients are registered with 'Fairfield Medical Centre' and therefore can see any doctor at the practice.
  • You may wish to have continuity of care in which case please book appointments with the same doctor (particularly for on-going, complex or unresolved problems). Please note though that the clinician of your choice may not be available.
  • Late arrival for appointments can result in surgeries running late and cause inconvenience to others.

    If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to rebook.

  • Appointments are for one patient only and are for 10 minutes each. If your problem is complex or likely to need a gynaecological examination then please request a double appointment.
